For sure every island in Greece has its own beauty, charm, character as well as its own reason to be famous of…

Spetses island…the island of the famous and the Royal! Many celebrities, high society,   as well as many members of royal families from around the world, find peace and relaxation in the captivating Greek island called Spetses. Very close to Athens (approximately 3 hours, two ways to get there…by car or ship), Spetses is one of the best choices to have your summer vacations!

Horse-drawn carriages (cars are not permitted in the island), narrow cobbled streets full of flowers and beautiful mansions, make this island perfect for those seeking an elegant destination.

Two harbors (the old and the new one) surrounded by great restaurants (serving an exceptional quality of sea-food), dozens waterfront bars and cafeterias (serving your drink literally on the beach), many hotels (luxurious or not according to your wallet) luxury yachts docked across the sea (to photograph and admire), many boutique stores (to do your shopping), several amazing beaches to have a swim and of course the warm Greek hospitality that local people offer …makes this island absolutely charming!

I always enjoy visiting Spetses island (and I must say…I do it pretty often) and this is by far, one of my favorite destinations!!!

Things I love and always do while being in Spetses:

Long walks at night.

Drinking my morning coffee, at my favorite waterfront café.

Having a trip around the island with a horse-drawn carriage with my husband…during sunset!

Unique events organized every year:

An impressive re-enactment of naval battle called “Armata” takes place from 1931. (during September)

“Spetsathlon triathlon” (Swimming, Biking and Running race) which receives thousands of participants from around the world.

On the negative side:

Spetses Island, in general, is quite expensive! So if you plan to visit Spetses, plan ahead by doing a good research on accommodation!
